May Holidays in Russia: Grill Mode On!

When May holidays arrive in Russia, it's time to get outside and fire up the grill! People love spending these warm spring days in the fresh air with family and friends. Everyone heads to the park, the forest, or the dacha. It's the perfect way to chill, have fun, and enjoy delicious food.

BBQ is a big part of the celebration. There is music, laughter, outdoor games, and lots of tasty smells. And honestly, grilled food just hits different! One thing is for sure: May holidays and шашлык are the ultimate duo.

Japanese Chicken Skewers

Want to try something new for your next BBQ? These Japanese chicken skewers are super tasty!

What you need for the glaze:

  • soy sauce
  • sake (optional)
  • mirin
  • sugar
  • green onion

Put everything in a small pan and let it simmer for 10–15 minutes.

How to make the skewers:

1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
2. Put the chicken on skewers. Add a piece of green onion between each piece of chicken.
3. Fry or grill the skewers for about 3 minutes on each side.
4. Brush the skewers with the glaze while cooking.

Sweet, salty, and full of flavor — these skewers are a real BBQ star!
