A Visit to Versailles: Palaces, Gardens, and History
Versailles is one of the most famous royal palaces in the world. It’s just outside Paris, so many people set off early in the morning to spend a full day there. The palace was the home of French kings before the revolution, and Louis XIV even took over the government from Paris and ruled from Versailles.
When visiting, make sure to explore the Hall of Mirrors and the royal apartments. After the palace, stroll through the enormous gardens and visit the smaller palaces like the Grand Trianon and Marie Antoinette’s estate.
Look out for the musical fountain shows during summer—they’re a beautiful part of the experience. It’s best to buy your ticket online in advance and arrive early to avoid the biggest crowds.
