Notre-Dame de Paris: A Gothic Icon
Notre-Dame is one of the most famous cathedrals in the world. Located on the Île de la Cité in Paris, it’s a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. Many visitors come to find out about its history, including the fire in 2019 that damaged the roof.
Before the fire, tourists would often line up to climb the towers and see the city from above. Today, restoration work continues, and the famous gargoyles and bells have been taken down for repairs.
You can still admire the outside and visit the nearby archaeological crypt to learn more about the history of the island. Don’t forget to walk along the Seine and enjoy the street booksellers, too.
Notre-Dame is expected to fully reopen soon, so it’s a great time to learn about its past and see how it’s being brought back to life.
