The next clue led her to a shop selling Chinese New Year decorations. The shopkeeper looked nervous when she showed him the fabric. He admitted it belonged to a stolen lion costume used in a secret ritual. Before he could explain, the black lantern’s light turned green.
“Someone’s watching us,” the shopkeeper whispered, eyes wide. The lantern flickered, and a cold gust of wind slammed the door shut.
