May Holidays in Russia: fancy!

In Russia, May holidays are a big deal. The weather is warm, the sun is out, and everyone is ready to relax and enjoy life. It’s the perfect time to slow down, spend time with family and friends, and have fun outdoors.

And yes, it’s totally barbecue season! Russians love cooking shashlik over an open fire. Classic options are pork, chicken, and sausages. But if you want something a bit fancy, you can grill salmon, shrimp, lamb chops, or even steak. Great food, fresh air, and good vibes—what could be better?

Steak kebabs
Want to try something new for your next BBQ? These steak kebabs are a bit fancy!

What you need:

  • Italian dressing
  • soy sauce
  • salt, pepper, garlic
  • sirloin steak
  • vegetables of your choice (red onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, and bell peppers)
  • if you want fancy you could add pineapples pieces

How to make the skewers:

1. Cut steak into bite-sized square pieces.
2. Put meat into a Ziploc back and add marinade. (2 parts Italian dressing and 1 part soy sauce). Marinade for at least 6 hours.
3. Alternate vegetables of your choice with steak pieces.
4. Roast for 15 min on medium high heat. Could add rice as a side dish.

Simple, delicious— these kebabs are so fancy!
