What Happens to Old Children’s Clothes?
Children grow fast, so they often need new clothes. This means many old clothes are thrown away. Every year, millions of tons of clothes end up in landfills. Most of these clothes are still in good condition and could be reused.
Making clothes for children and adults uses a lot of resources. Factories need water, cotton, and chemicals. These things can pollute rivers and harm the soil. Also, many clothes are made in poor working conditions.
Fast fashion—cheap clothes made quickly—is a big problem. These clothes often break easily and are thrown away fast.
